“All the systems are modern and in excellent condition,” notes Rosalie. In fact, the whole house is immaculate, from the water heating system that keeps the home snug at winter to the welcoming Jacuzzi.

The second floor takes the luxury to a new level, introducing a master bedroom with three walk-in closets and built-in air conditioning, not to mention the en suite bathroom with double sinks and sizeable walk-in shower.

There is even a separate entrance to a terrace and the outside grounds, Rosalie points out, making the second floor an ideal space for guests, paying or otherwise.

She directs my attention to a detached barn, which covers 860 square feet - more than enough room for a separate guest house, if not an office.

The space has excellent potential for investors as well as those looking for a rural retreat - primarily because there is so much of it. The property stands on 1.3 acres of private fenced and gated park, one-third of which is wooded with cypresses, pines and oaks.

The surrounding area is just as appealing: the house is a stone's throw from Florence but sits within the wine growing region of Chianti.

“The best of two worlds,” Rosalie offers.

She’s right. A few kilometres from the town of Impruneta, with its basilica and long tradition of terra cotta manufacturing, it’s perfectly positioned for you to soak up the culture of Florence or enjoy the beautiful scenery. Nearby connections to major motorways only boost the investment potential further. Buyers, you suspect, will come flocking.

With wide open space right on the doorstep and more space inside, La Casa del Pastore has long outstripped its modest old moniker. The quiet farmland property has been transformed into an ideal base for a bucolic Tuscan break - or something more permanent.
