Overseas property investors who may be looking for an alternative option in the UK could consider commercial property investment, a sector which could perform well in the near future, according to property asset manager F&C.
Commercial property has been delivering total returns of 20 per cent per year, the company reports, and further good results are predicted for 2006.
The office sector is being touted as one of the most promising areas, as it is currently undergoing a recovery which is continuing to move forward.
One area over which concern was expressed is the retail property market, as there has been a shortage of quality property for sale in this area.
It was also noted, however, that there was the potential for growth in all areas of commercial property in the UK if real estate investment trusts (REITs) are introduced in 2007.
According to F&C, the quality of tenant, location, building and lease are expected to be among the most important factors for property investors over the coming years, as the identification and management of "resilient stock" are key to positive property performance.
