French property a "strong favourite" for investors

Overseas property investors are continuing to invest in France, owing to the options for return that it offers, it has been claimed

French property has been a regular choice for investors for a long time, according to the Independent, and continues to be despite new and emerging markets.

Property sectors in eastern Europe are gradually achieving a higher profile in the eyes of investors, while areas such as Morocco and Dubai are also seen as "promising", the report claims.

However, French property is seen as a reliable option, with prices rising by 10.3 per cent in the last year and 60 million tourists expected to visit the country this year.

Stuart Law of property company Assetz told the Independent that, while areas such as Bulgaria may prove attractive to investors in the returns they offer, they do not appeal as much as countries such as France for retirement.

"Capital growth is slower in France, but the rental market is strong and reliable, underpinned by the tourism industry," Mr Law said.

"And property prices, though rising, remain considerably lower than in the UK."
