Houses for sale in Jamaica will soon be given a helping hand from the countryââ¬â¢s award-winning tourism industry.The country will be honoured at the World Travel Awards in October, it was announced this week. The awards, which are described as the ââ¬ÅOscars of the travel industryââ¬Â, will acknowledge Jamaicaââ¬â¢s success during 2011. The number of visitors this year is expected to top last year, when the country reported a 5 per cent rise in tourists.

The ceremony will take place on 7th October and give out awards in categories ranging from ââ¬ÅCaribbeanââ¬â¢s Leading Destinationââ¬Â to ââ¬ÅCaribbeanââ¬â¢s Leading Hotelââ¬Â. Jamaica will also have its own award category, ââ¬ÅJamaicaââ¬â¢s Leading Resortââ¬Â, with five separate tourism hotspots competing against each other.
