She also included Brazil in the newspaper’s ‘top ten places to put on your 2011 travel wish list’.

Specifically, the newspaper encourages tourists to explore some of Brazil’s lesser known regions.  Ms Thorpe says: “Now is the time to discover this vast and varied country, where new regions are opening up to international tourism.  Boipeba Island, off the Bahia coast, is typical, a natural paradise comprising Atlantic rainforest, sand dunes and mangroves, all edged with stunning coconut-palmed beaches sheltered by reefs.
