To wallpaper or not to wallpaper. That is the question. The simple answer is: sure. If you've got a fixer upper on your hands, wallpaper can be a fun and inexpensive way to spruce up your living space. It is pretty easy, however, to choose a style that can compromise the whole vibe of the room. Here are some tips on how to turn your offwhite drab walls into a chic and fun wallpapered wonderland.

Neautrals are your friend
When choosing a potential wallpaper scheme to go with, remembering one thing can  ensure you don't end up regretting your wallpaper choices. Neutrals like olive, beige, and brown are often a better option than neons, blacks, and reds. Whites, however, aren't a sensible option when it comes to wallpaper, as painting might be a better option. Remember, choosing trendy patterns or floral prints make it harder to change the decor of your room.

Textures

Say yes to textures (sparingly)! A textured wallpaper can be fun and kischy in a stylish kind of way. Different raised patterns can bring a room to life. Abstract and subtle floral patterns add another element to just the standard wallpaper selections out there. Remember though, don't force it! If you're in a room that has a specific design aesthetic and you desperately want to try textures, make sure it it will work before you commit.

Accent Walls

An accent wall is when one portion of the room is wallpapered/coloured differently while the others aren't. This style of decor is becoming increasingly popular and adds more interior options to any room. A great place where accent walls really work is in the bedroom. Having olive green walls and a black and white paisley accented wall behind your bed naturally draws your eyes to the patterened walls. Making sure your colours are complementary and work together instead of clashing is a key step in having a functional accent wall.

Furniture

Putting wallpaper on certain furniture pieces is another way to get funky with your interiors. It obviously won't work if you try to wallpaper your couch or fridge but wallpapering the top of your dresser drawer is a fresh and fun take on an old furniture staple. Again, a black and white paisley portion of wallpaper (perhaps to match your accent wall!).
