About the Area



Gaiole is a beautiful village and this area has been described by some as the most idyllic place to live in Europe. There are many restaurants in the village, a pizza takeaway, some bars and cafes. There is a playground, tennis courts and a football pitch. During the summer months there is a full range of activities in the evening time in the centre of the village including wine tasting and musical performances.



The area prides itself on its traditional cuisine, its wineries and olive farms that sell their produce direct to the public and often provide tours and free wine tasting. A few mins from the apartment is the Castello di Spaltenna, a converted monastery which is now 5-star hotel and is the ideal place for lunch or evening meal.

Siena is famous for the Palio horse race in the Piazza del Campo twice a year in July and August and the fabulous city of Florence has a lot of art, culture and history, a must-see, especially at night.
