Hévíz is a small city in Hungary with 4700 inhabitants. It is located 5 km northwest of Lake Balaton and 6 km from the town of Keszthely. The heart of the city of Hévíz is the thermal lake that was created here a ten thousand years ago and is very well known because of the medical effect of the water. The water temperatures in the thermal lake vary from about 28°C - 38°C in the summer, to about 24°C - 25°C in the winter. In this way, it is possible to bath outdoors in the lake all year round and as many tourists make use of it, it is making Hévíz a well-known spa with hotels, hospitals and treatment centres.

The city of Keszthely is also worth a visit. Very nice centre and the castle and of course the Balaton are worth a visit. Keszthely is a big city, so great choice of restaurants, museums, sports facilities etc..
