Sulmona is a town and comune in the Province of L’Aquila in the Abruzzo region of Italy. It is situated in the Peligna Valley, at the foot of the Majella mountain, and is known for its production of confetti (sugared almonds) and its historic center.

Sulmona was founded by the Romans in the 4th century BC and was an important city during the Roman Empire. In the Middle Ages, it was a member of the Lombard League and was later ruled by the Kingdom of Naples. Sulmona was badly damaged during the Second World War, but has since been rebuilt.
