The northeast Brazilian city of Maceió is a thriving hotspot with beautiful beaches and great weather. The capital of the Alagoas State, it is not as well known as other popular destinations along the coast, but it has plenty to offer anyone looking for a holiday home or retirement villa.
Regions such as Fortaleza and Natal are already familiar names to overseas property investors could Maceio be the next big thing in Brazil. Property prices are still below other destinations along the coast and this is an ideal location for property investing.
Maceió is best known for its beaches and natural pools that are formed by the low tides and barrier reefs off the coastline. The metro area of Maceió has about 1.2 million residents and is well connected to the rest of the country. It is served by the Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport (MCZ), which has some one million travelers passing through each year. Most flights into Maceió are domestic and there are many connecting flights through the major Brazilian cities.
