Along the southern coast of the Adriatic Sea lies the rugged, untapped country of Albania. This little nation has long been off the radar of international property investors, but with new investments in resorts, off plan property and infrastructure, that is quickly changing. The beautiful coastline has wonderful views of the sea with Greece to the south and Montenegro and the Dalmatian coast to the north.

For those who are interested in Albania’s property offerings, the coastline and the capital city of Tirana are the major destinations, with the southern areas near Greece becoming very popular. The country as a whole, and particularly the coastal resorts, are undergoing a bit of a renaissance, as those who love this part of Europe are discovering the low costs and beautiful scenery.

Property in Albania is creating a real buzz at the overseas property website www.HomesGOfast.com with steady interest being seen by mainly UK property investors. Nicholas Marr ’ We have a steady flow of enquiries which seem to be increasing as each month goes by for Albanian real estate. Beachfront apartments priced less than £37,000 really tick all the boxes for hard pressed investors who want to avoid mortgage finance’

Sarande, on the southern coast of Albania has much to offer. The beach by the town is quiet, but not far are sandy white beaches, including the popular beach of Ksamili. You can even take a boat over to the Greek resort island of Corfu for a day if you want to spend some money. A new international airport is scheduled for completion in 2011. A little farther south is the tow of Butrint, a small fishing village that is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its history goes back thousands of years and is ready for you to discover.

The capital of Tirana has a small city center but is expanding quickly in all directions. Mt. Dajti towers over the city on the eastern side and makes an impression on anyone who visits. The city itself is full of museums and cultural life and is the economic center of the country. This is the place to be for those who regularly work or visit Albania. Property can still be had for great prices, and you can get a lot for your money. For under £50,000, you can get a very nice apartment that will, in all likelihood, appreciate considerably in the coming years.

The easiest way to get to Albania is through Tirana International Airport (TIA), also called Mother Teresa Airport. The airport is in the town of Rinas, about 25 kilometers from downtown Tirana. 13 airlines currently fly here from 33 cities, and among the carriers are British Airways, Alitalia and Lufthansa.
