Homes for sale in Trinidad and Tobago will get a kick from Spanish football, as Real Madrid opens a new sports academy in the Port of Spain.

The Atlantic Real Madrid Foundation Social Sports School, located in Trinidad’s Queen’s Park Oval, was launched last week by Spanish footballer Emilio Butragueno, and marks the country’s commitment to helping underprivileged children from both Trinidad and overseas.

The Foundation already has over 160 schools in 55 countries, with more than 30,000 beneficiaries, according to the Trinidad Express.

“We all acknowledge that football has an enormous appeal to youth and can be a very important tool for social integration. Our main aim is to build a better future for the younger generation,” the former Real Madrid striker said at the launch. Demand from children has already seen the school over capacity.

Brazil also gives real estate the boot

The academy is an enticing option for children, either for local residents or overseas investors, as football continues to give a kick to real estate markets around the world. In Brazil, the Lee Sharpe Football Academy was recently launched, teaming up with the White Sands resort in Natal to create an attractive investment pitch for buyers.

“They understand the importance of football in Brazil and the plans they have for The Academy are incredible,” the Manchester United footballer said of Green Planet Investments. “It will be an amazing space for White Sand’s guests as well as the people of Natal.”

Tourism hope hits fever pitch

As both Manchester United and Real Madrid give rise to football schools across the globe, countries have high hopes for economic benefits, as well as a positive social impact. Indeed, Spain welcomes the chance to develop alongside Trinidad, while property owners with homes for sale in Trinidad will be pleased to see increased tourist interest.

“[The Spanish government] is in full support of the initiative,” adds the Trinidad Express, ”and hopes this will be the beginning of a more ambitious and comprehensive institutional co-operation between Trinidad and Tobago and the European country.”
