The mixed use and retail center Victoria Square was just announced as winner of the 2009 RIAI award for Best Retail Development, awarded at the Irish Architecture Awards in Dublin. The highly-acclaimed £400 million-property opened in the centre of Belfast in March of 2008 and was also awarded Best In-Town Retail Scheme of the Year for 2008 by the British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC).

Since its opening last year, Victoria Square has helped to revitalize the southern quarter of Belfast’s city centre and also been a part of the ongoing rejuvenation of the waterfront along the Lagan River. The shopping area is highlighted by a large glass dome at its heart, which is lit up in blue during the night. The retail centre has a wide variety of shops and retailers, including many that are new to the city and Northern Ireland. Some of the retailers include Hugo Boss, Cruise, Apple, Build-A-Bear, Urban Outfitters and Hollister.

Victoria Square, which covers 1.8 hectares, is located in downtown Belfast at Victoria Street and Ann Street and not far from the Lagan River. It has 75 retail shops and restaurants and is open daily.
