Morocco has received a $219 million loan to finance several infrastructure projects, Moroccan officials announced recently. The Kuwait-based Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development has loaned the money for two highway projects and a dam for the country.

Part of the money will be for two key highways, one of which will link the towns of Fes and Oujda, and the other will link Rabat and Casablanca. The rest of the loan is for a dam in the Essaouria region of the country.

Fes is located in the north central part of Morocco, and Oujda is on the northeast border with Algeria. The cities of Rabat and Casablanca are located along the eastern coast of the country. Morocco has been expanding its infrastructure and capacity for new residents in recent years as it focuses on drawing more international investors, tourists and second home buyers.
