WING Real Estate Development Company, formerly Wallis Real Estate, has announced that that renowned London based architect Foster + Partners has been chosen to design its new development in Budapest. The 240,000 square meter mixed-use project on the Pest side of the Danube River will be an eco-friendly project and a prime example of sustainable building design.

Construction is set to begin in 2009 and the whole project is scheduled for completion by 2016. Foster + Partners will prepare the Master Plan and also design the main buildings in the complex. The development will be made up of a combination of office, residential and retail spaces. This is the first project for Foster + Partners in Hungary and one of the first for the firm in Eastern Europe.

WING aims to contribute to Budapest’s development while preserving the harmony of the overall cityscape. The scale and complexity of the project, and the commitment of the developer to ensuring sustainable solutions, have made it essential to retain the services of a first-class architectural firm of global renown.

“We are determined to create a truly 21st-century city district on the Pest bank of the Danube – one that is of exceptional quality even by international standards. WING is a highly professional, Hungarian real estate company that aims to create lasting value through its projects, while according special emphasis in its company philosophy to corporate social responsibility and the application of sustainable solutions,” declared Noah M. Steinberg, CEO of WING Zrt.
