Bom Sucesso Resort Turning Homes Into Works of Art

Portugal’s Bom Sucesso Design Resort is turning homes into works of art. This luxurious and modern resort is being created on a 270 acre site near the medieval town of Obidos on Portugal's Silver Coast. The resort is less than an hour north of Lisbon and offers a totally unique vision for homeowners. Some of Europe’s most well-known architects have collaborated in the largest modern architecture project ever undertaken on the continent. And these modern homes of the future are for sale - right now.

A total of 23 architects are participating in designing homes at Bom Sucesso, including Alvaro Siza Vieira, Souto Moura, the UK's Stirling prize winner David Chipperfield, Josep Llinas and Aires Mateus. While allowing for individual style and creativity, each architect has to adhere to a set of rules that provide unity for the project.
When completed, Bom Sucesso will contain 1,079 individual homes, in both villas and townhouses. In the first phase of construction, 601 luxury units are now under being built, while 478 additional properties are planned for the future. The resort emphasizes plenty of natural space, with only seven per cent of the resort built upon. Each property has a very high level of privacy and, depending on the location, fantastic views of the golf course, woods, ocean or Obidos Lagoon.
The resort will have plenty of extras and amenities such as a unique 120-room hotel and conference centre, luxury spa, shopping facilities. The homes are being constructed around the 18-hole Championship golf course designed by the world-renowned architect Donald Steel. The tee for the tenth is on the hotel roof, which makes for a truly unusual and spectacular hole. Bom Sucesso's intention is to be a new European cultural centre, bringing people in from all over the continent.

Villas are currently available to purchase in design and build packages. Three, four, and five bedroom villa designs are available with plots ranging in size between 700 and 3,000 m2. Prices vary according to size, location and the architect who is designing the home for a particular property.  Prices for a three-bedroom villa and plot of land begin at approximately €500,000. Most of the villas have one floor to maximize the views and sunlight, and private pools are available as an optional extra. All villas have greenery covering walls and the rooftop, in addition to a number of amenities inside and out.
A range of townhouses are also available at Bom Sucesso, with prices starting at €250,000 Euros for a one-bedroom unit. These will only be available for purchase once building is completed.

"Bom Sucesso is probably the largest permanent showcase of contemporary architecture in the world," explains Goncalo Castelo Branco, a director of developer Acordo. "This resort has been developed as a model of excellence, with contemporary architecture forming the cornerstone of its concept strategy. This is an innovative concept – contemporary architecture blended into the natural landscape. We are proud to have created some of the most avant-garde and distinctive house designs in the international property market today."
As a sign just how important the development is to the government, Bom Sucesso has been classed as a five-star resort development by the Portuguese Directorate-General for Tourism, and named as a Project of Potential National Interest (PIN) by the Portuguese Investment Agency.
