Austria & Portugal See New Architect Designed Homes

The latest trend in new resort developments is for celebrity architects to design luxury getaways and for developers to promote the architects names. In the Austrian Alps, the Edel: Weiss residences are being designed by world-renowned architect MatteoThun . In Portugal over twenty three Portuguese and international architects have designed different sets of villas and townhouses for a new resort at Bom Sucesso along the Silver Coast. These one-of-a-kind homes are set to make potential buyers a very good investment as the architects become more famous.

The unique buildings for the residences at Edel: Weiss are located in Katschberg at the gateway to Carinthia and Salzburg, in the valley between the eastern and western mountain peaks. They are shaped like vertical fir cones. Architect Thun has designed the exterior as well as the interior of the apartments, with two options for the décor of each home. There is a traditional alpine décor or a more modern style for these apartments, which range in size from 45 square meters to spacious 180 square meter penthouses.

Each apartment residence has balconies with amazing and stunning views of the mountains that surround Katschberg. The smallest apartments have one bedroom, and the largest ones are up to four bedrooms. Prices start at €230,000.

The Edel: Weiss residential buildings are connected by walkway to the Hotel Cristallo, which provides guests with access to their luxurious facilities. The hotel’s wellness center has pools, saunas, beauty salons, exercise machines and fitness studio.

The area around the residences and the town of Katschberg is a paradise for outdoor sporting enthusiasts. There are 60 kilometers of well-maintained trails and pistes in town, and nearby there is access to another 250 kilometers of alpine ski terrain. There is also cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice-skating, curling, sleigh-rides and more.

The summer provides nearly as much to do as the winter, with mountain hiking and climbing, cycling, horse-riding, fishing, rafting, tennis and more. There are plenty of golf courses in the surrounding area, with the nearest course just 10 minutes from the resort. Guests can have access to some of the best sporting in the world while owning a unique and high-quality residence from one of the world’s top architects.

The architects adhered to a set of rules that provide the formal unity of the project, but which simultaneously enabled them to follow their own original and specific objectives. Most important among these rules and vital for the originality of the resort, was that all rooftops should be covered in greenery and any walls should either be covered in greenery or else simply not exist at all.
