Tesco and Primelocation no property portal deal

Property portal Primelocation has written to its member to clarify their position regarding the approach made to them by supermarket giant Tesco. Primelocation.com recently confirmed that they were approached by Tesco a few months ago regarding feeding their listings to the new Tesco property website. Primelocation has felt it necessary to clarify its position after reports in the UK press stated that the two were working together.

The UK based property website is regarded as one the main competitors to the UK’s largest property website at rightmove.co.uk. Primelocation.com was established in 2001 and lists properties from estate agent from across the UK. Primelocation property portal like its competitors Rightmove.co.uk, Findaproperty.co.uk and Propertyfinder.com do not allow private sellers to list properties on their websites. In contrast Tesco new property website is aimed at private sellers who wish to advertise their homes for sale without using an estate agent.

Primelocation Chief Executive Ian Springett letter to read ‘You may have become aware of a story published originally in the Mail on Sunday on 24th June that Primelocation.com has agreed to a strategic partnership with a Tesco property portal, whereby Primelocation.com would list its properties on the supermarket-owned portal. I am writing to advise you that this is NOT the case as the formal statement below sets out. Our ongoing policy is that we will not accept private vendor property listings on Primelocation.com nor will we support any other site which seeks to combine our listings with private vendor property listings.
