Luxury Spanish property attracting UK and Irish Buyers

Property prices in the UK are forcing first time buyers and established home owners alike to consider buying luxury property abroad.

Caroline Murphy, Sales Manager of Dream Overseas Property in Brookeborough in County Fermanagh, confirmed that her firm was getting more enquiries from people who are unable to get onto the property ladder in Northern Ireland and are interested in buying abroad.

She reported that her Irish overseas property buyers were split in to two camps.

‘The 'luxury' market which includes mainly coastal properties in Spain, Turkey and Bulgaria and the capital city market- Paris, Sofia and Budapest - where people are buying apartments and commercial property to rent’

The most recent luxury property is Aljaraque “Residencial Aljalia,” a complex comprising 23 individual houses. These properties are aimed at overseas buyers seeking luxury property in Spain. UK buyers are attracted to Costa de la Luz with its Andalucian architecture and charm. The latest development is located in the province of Huelva in the autonomous region of Andalucía.

Spanish Golf courses are attracting luxury home owners to Spain.

"Golf tourism is an area of 'strong growth' and is fuelling the Spanish and Portuguese property markets, Paul Collins, the overseas property editor at Buyassociation, claims.

"For the builders to fund the golf courses they build properties around the site. Thus we are seeing more golf property developments appearing in overseas property, even in Spain and Portugal, where there are already large amounts of golf facilities and properties associated with golf courses.

He added that many of the new courses are being designed by well-known current and past players, such as Tiger Woods, Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus.
