Celebrity gossip does not get better than this after a highly private romance and six months of wedded bliss, James Bond star Daniel Craig and his wife, actor Rachel Weisz, have bought an $11.5 million property in Manhattan.
The couple have spent £7.5 million on the penthouse in New York City after an exhaustive search for a marital home, according to reports in the New York Post.
Weisz ‘committed to raising her son in New York’
Craig, who will play James Bond for the third time in 2012’s Skyfall, married fellow British actor Rachel Weisz in a private ceremony in New York six months ago. Now, the couple have decided to make Manhattan their home, partly to be close to Weisz’s son.
Until recently, Weisz lived in New York with her former partner, Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky. The film maker is also the father of her five-year-old son, Henry. According to Marie Claire, when the couple split in November 2010, ‘a representative said that Rachel Weisz and Aronofsky would 'remain close friends and are committed to raising their son together in NYC.'’
Luxury penthouse boasts huge outside roof terrace with kitchen and media room
Craig, 43, and Weisz, 41, have reportedly spent £7.5 million on the 4,350 square foot mansion apartment in the city’s SoHo district. The couple have spent months looking for the perfect overseas property and have splashed out on a three bedroom penthouse with three bathrooms.
The property also boasts a 2,000 square foot private roof garden featuring its own media room, kitchen and outside fireplace.
The couple recently starred together in the Hollywood thriller Dream House although have kept their romance very private. Their first public appearance as a couple came in early 2012 at the Madrid premiere of Craig’s latest film, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
