Location Details

Sal Island is one of the 10 stunning Cape Verde islands located in the beautiful Macronesia region of the North Atlantic. Set just 500km off the west coast of Africa, it is the most developed of all the islands. The island is approximately 30km long and 12km at its widest point.

Dubbed as the ‘Caribbean of Europe’ Cape Verde is the overseas property hotspot for 2008, with a fast-growing reputation among investors.

An international airport makes Sal one of the major gateways to the Cape Verde islands. Its abundance of pristine white sandy beaches and year round tropical climate has turned Sal into a major tourist destination.

Sal already has more visiting tourists than any of the other islands, many of which come to enjoy the fantastic watersports. Scuba diving is very popular due to Sal’s vast and colourful sea life. Ponta Preta is also a known location on the world kite surfing scene.

From Dunas Beach, it is just a short walk to the popular Santa Maria town and only 10 minutes away from the international airport.

The airport welcomes daily international flights into Cape Verde and is just over a five hour flight from the UK, 4 hours closer than the Caribbean. There is easy access to the other islands either by plane or boat on a daily basis.

Local climate
Cape Verde boasts a year-round, tropical, dry climate. It enjoys temperatures that range between 22 to 30 degrees, with 12 hours of sunshine per day and very little rainfall throughout the year.
