New air routes to Spain set to attract property buyers

Falling prices and a great choice of property have already attracted many overseas property buyers to Spain. Now, it’s rarely been easier to reach your holiday home with a number of airlines launching new routes to the country.

British Airways and Monarch are among airlines to announce new Spanish routes for summer 2013. Keep reading to learn more.

Dozens of new air routes set to make it easier to reach your Spanish property

British Airways has announced that it is set to run 17 flights per week from London Gatwick to Alicante from March 31st 2013, increasing to 21 flights per week for July, August and September. The airline has also launched new routes to Barcelona, Palma and the Canary Islands. Rival Monarch has also launched additional routes to Spain. It is launching new routes to Ibiza and the Canary Islands as well as flying to Spain from East Midlands airport.

“These new routes offer Spanish property owners additional choices when travelling to their foreign homes,” says Nick Marr from Spanish property specialist Homes Go Fast. “Interest in Spanish property remains strong thanks to falling prices and the recovering pound. Now, greater travel options to reach the country can only help property sales to overseas buyers.”

Marc Pritchard, sales and marketing manager at Taylor Wimpey Espana, stated: "Spain's climate, infrastructure, ease of access to the UK, combined with sandy beaches, turquoise seas and affordable housing market draws tourists and potential buyers in their droves.

"Despite falling domestic real estate prices, overseas demand for Spanish property certainly hasn't.”

As well as dozens of new air routes, travel by train from the UK to Spain is also becoming faster. A Place in the Sun reports that you can now reach Barcelona by a new fast train from London. The new link-up will reduce the journey time by one and a quarter hours and will also make the Costa Brava easier to reach.
