Rics expands in Prague

The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) has opened a new chapter in the Czech Republic's capital of Prague, it has been reported, showing the development of the overseas property market in the country. According to Overseas Property Professional (OPP), around 74 members have joined the new branch, the majority of whom are British or other expatriate professionals. The primary aims of the institute are to promote good ethical practices, provide objective and accurate advice and represent consumer interests. Its guidance will allow people from all over the world to "benefit from a better developing real estate market", according to chairman of the Czech chapter of Rics, Leon van Leersum. Anna Orcsik, coordinator of Rics for central and eastern Europe, said: "Rics members are part of a global community. "They have a code of ethics and follow a code of conduct that is highly recognised on a global level." It was predicted that the growth of the new project in the Czech Republic would be "substantial", following the level of professionalism and investment in the market that Rics' presence would create.
