This week, police in Yorkshire have launched an appeal to find new homes… for 19 rescue dogs! Police issued the public statement after rescuing the stolen dogs, who had been abandoned in a property in Kelfield near Riccal in the Selby area. 23 dogs were originally seized from the property when a local resident reported the abandoned dogs, which are thought to have been stolen.

Many of the dogs were not micro-chipped and had no tags or collars, but despite this, police have already managed to reunite 4 of the pooches with their owners. So far, no one has come forward to claim the remaining 19 dogs, and the police have issued a plea to the public in the hopes of finding loving new homes for these rescued pups.

Thankfully for the remaining dogs, PC Sarah Ward of Selby police has said:

“We have had an overwhelming response to our appeal to find new homes and to try and find their rightful owners…”

“People have been brilliant and incredibly generous. Many people who were not in a position to adopt a dog have called at the kennels and donated food for them.”

“I would like to thank everyone for their kindness, I honestly did not expect such a huge response to our appeal, but thank you so much.”

All of the remaining 19 dogs have now found happy new homes, but the dogs will not be released to their new owners for another week to allow time for any original owners to step forward and claim the dogs.
