The British media industry is one of the most popular sectors for graduates and competition for jobs is fierce. If you want a career in writing or journalism, you will need to supplement your qualifications with industry experience, especially while studying.

The number of journalism graduates is at an all-time high, and around 1 in every 5 graduates available to work is unemployed, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The most commonly cited reason for writing graduates inability to secure work was 'lack of industry experience'
