The Post Office has launched a new mortgage advice service to help home buyers in the UK.
The scheme will see five of the countryââ¬â¢s largest Post Office branches introduce a mortgage specialist to inform customers and give them a ââ¬Ågenuine alternativeââ¬Â to the major high street banks.
While mortgage brokers in London or elsewhere would charge a fee for assistance, the Post Office service will allow customers to book free, no-obligation appointments with their specialists. They will then answer questions and help customers to make an informed decision about the mortgage products on offer.
The first five branches to launch the scheme will be away from the capital in Birmingham, Walsall, Luton, Norwich and Solihull, while the Post Office will also offer advice online and over the phone to people in the rest of the country.
"We understand that taking out a mortgage is one of the most important financial decisions you have to make. Finding the right one can be a complex process and this is one of the reasons why we have introduced our specially trained mortgage specialists to assist our customers through the process," said Mike Cook, head of Post Office Mortgages. "We are one of the fastest growing financial services providers in the UK and we are constantly looking at ways to offer new services to our customers. By introducing mortgage specialists in our branches, we are taking the next step in fulfilling our ambition to become one of the best providers in the market place and to be a genuine alternative to the established high street providers.ââ¬Â
