The city of Istanbul is a cultural, historic and business center for not just one, but two continents. By virtue of its location on the Bosphorus Straits, Turkey’s largest city sits in both Europe and Asia. It is the business center for the country, as well as the home to many of the great sites and cultural institutions in this part of the world. Istanbul is an ideal place for a property investment. The city is growing and with Turkey’s bid for EU acceptance it is becoming a more popular business center. It is located near the Black Sea, Sea of Marmara and Aegean Sea, so there is plenty to do on the weekends and when it gets warm. The famous Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar are all here, as well as many more historic sites. A large and sophisticated city, there is always something to see and do here. Istanbul property varies in size, quality and price. You can find just about anything you want in and near the city. One bedroom apartments are numerous and easy to find throughout the city. Prices are reasonable and you can get all the amenities you want. For business people with interests in the city but homes elsewhere, this is a reasonable route to go. An apartment will provide a place to stay when in town on business and investment potential for the long term. Larger properties and villas are a bit more difficult to find and, because of the large city, more expensive as well. You can still find the larger properties, but to get one for a reasonable price you will probably have to look on the outskirts and suburbs of the city. This is certainly true if you are looking for villas or a detached home. The city is growing and becoming more of a business center, so property continues to be developed and there are a number of off plan developments available. As a long term investment, Istanbul is an attractive city. Attaturk International Airport (IST) is Turkey’s largest and busiest airport. It is situated 23 kilometers or 14 miles west of downtown. There are many daily direct flights to and from all major European cities, including London and Manchester, and several intercontinental flights as well.
