Just south of Lisbon along Portugal’s Costa Azul is the Troia Peninsula. Situated on the Sado River Estuary, with its western side facing the Atlantic and the eastern side well protected on the Estuary, this stretch of land is becoming a very popular destination for holiday and second home seekers. The peninsula is located within an hour’s drive of Lisbon and has golf and destination resorts to suit the discriminating investor. Currently, there are a couple of new resorts and properties now going up that will make this an even more attractive destination. At the very end of the Troia Peninsula is the Troia Resort. Much of this resort is completed, but there is still much to go. The resort is centered on the Robert Trent Jones designed golf course, which is one of the best in the country. Once complete, this development will add some 7,500 beds to the peninsula. There are four distinct areas at the Troia Resort: The Troia Golf Club and Resort Hotel, The Beach, The Central Area and the Eco Resort. The Central Area is the urban heart of Troia, with a marina for boats of all sizes, a casino, restaurants, conference center and more. The Marina will have its own condominium/apartment building, and The Beach will also have apartment units for sale. In addition to the apartments and condos that are for sale, plots may be purchased on which to build your own villa throughout the resort. You can get a beach villa, golf villa or something located on the lake. The options are many and the resort is just waiting for you. A little further south along the peninsula is the Herdade do Pinheirinho Golf and Leisure Resort, now under construction. This new course and development is set among naturally rolling sand dunes on the Troia Peninsula. The development is being carried out in an eco-friendly manner. On completion, it will contain 204 luxury villas, a five-star hotel and four condo-hotels among three tourist resorts. With its nearness to the nation’s capital and location on the Atlantic Ocean, the Troia Peninsula has much to offer international real estate investors.
