Egypt officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a country in North Africa that includes the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt borders Libya to the west, Sudan to the south, and Israel and the Gaza Strip to the northeast; on the north and the east are the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, respectively. Egypt has becoming increasingly popular for overseas property investors as the Egyptian government seeks Foriegn Direct Investment. Egypt bears all the features of an overseas property hot spot. It has a good climate, attractive historical buidings and culture, stunning natural landscape and cheap property prices. Demand for second and holiday homes as well as retirement properties and holiday villas and propery for pure investment will increase. Travelling to Egypt Egypt benefits from great communications with good connections between Cairo and most European cities. The national airline is Egypt Air .Many travelers arrive in Egypt via Cairo however increased tourism means that Alexandria, Luxor, Hurghada and Shar, el-Shiekh are getting busier every year. These airports are serviced by low cost airlines and smaller carriers. Ferries arrive from Jordan,Saudia Arabia and Kuwait Health Medical facilities outside Cairo can be basic and in case of emergency you are advised to seek treatment in Cairo. Come prepared for the heat. In general tap water is not safe to drink. Bottled water is cheap and readily available. You should seek medical advice before travelling and ensure that all appropriate vaccinations are up to date. These can be obtained from an Egyptian Consulate outside Egypt or on arrival by payment in Sterling or USD, for stays of up to a month. Passports should be valid for at least six months. Applications for visa extensions should be made at Egyptian Passport and Immigration Offices. You may have difficulties leaving Egypt with an out of date visa. You will not normally be allowed to leave if the visa is out of date by more than 14 days.
