This city of 710,000 residents is an increasingly popular target for international investors and real estate developers. The spectacular location along the ocean and miles of undeveloped beaches north and south of the city make it ideal for those who are looking to get into an area that is up and coming. Natal and the areas surrounding it are currently the target for over a billion dollars (US) in development. There are at least 10 golf courses planned or under construction and dozens of new housing, apartment and resort developments are also under construction. The city and surrounding communities are a major tourist destination for domestic travelers in Brazil. The area is being marketed as an international tourist destination as well, and the city is becoming increasingly popular among foreigners. The city has an average annual temperature of 27 degrees, with daytime temperatures around 30 and nighttime temperatures rarely below 24. The location near the equator makes for a consistent year round climate, without large variances. There is a rainy season from April to June, although even during these days the sun comes out nearly every day. The sun is reputed to shine 365 days a year here, and finding a place with more sun will be hard. Natal sits on the Rio Potengi, with several beaches right in town. The Praia do Forte, Praia do Meio and Praia de Areia Preta are all in town and have resort hotels and apartments for anyone looking to buy or invest in this area. As you move south from the city center, you come to Ponta Negra, a very popular beach. The Jaques Cousteeau Residences are a pair of new condominium/apartment towers under construction that are facing the Ponta Negra beach and just 700 meters off the ocean. Cotovelo and Pirangi have many new developments being constructed, including the new Braganca and Breakpoint developments. As you move farther away from the city you come to Tibau do Sol and Pipa, two communities that are very popular with Europeans. Currently, to get across the Rio Potengi you have to take a ferry or drive a circuitous route, taking an additional 30-40 minutes. The government is constructing a bridge across the river which will shorten the trip to 5 minutes, though. Once you are on the northern side there are many pristine beaches with new villas, apartments and condominiums being constructed. From Redinha, just north of Natal, all the way up to Maracajau and even Touros, you will find an investment that is right for you. To get to Natal, fly into the Airport Augusto Severo (NAT) in nearby Parnamirim. It is located about 15 km south of downtown Natal, and there are flights daily to Salvador, Fortaleza and Sao Paulo. There are also international flights in and out of the airport with several charters flying weekly to European Cities. A new airport west of the city in Sao Goncolo do Amarante is scheduled to open in late 2009 or 2010. Useful Natal Brazil resouces Natal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
