Belmopan is the capital of Belize.  The City Council actively promotes the city as “The Garden City” and works to protect all of the natural resources available in the area.  The Council is also working to maintain the beautiful and scenic vistas and is installing lighting to make the area crime free and inviting to tourists and investors.  The city features several commercial businesses in the city and the University of Belize has recently located to the area.  This has increased the commercial activity in the area as well as promoted a modern bus terminal and market complex that was completed in 2003.
